Welcoming you to Rastrick High School

We have taken great care working with Primary Schools to develop an extended transition programme.

When we speak to children in Year 6, they often focus on the size and scale of our school. It’s as if they can’t imagine feeling at home here. We certainly understand these worries, but we’re confident that dealing with them early on leads to a successful and seamless transition.

We are working hard creating lots of information and resources to help prepare you for the transition to Rastrick High School. Keep an eye on this page as we are developing it at the moment. There are lots of staff here ready to support our students in this move and we can assure you (and your Parents/Carers) that we have lots of experience in ensuring that the transition is fun. You will settle quickly into life in Year 7!

Make sure to head on over to our Virtual Transition Week page linked below.

Messages from current Year 7 students

My first day at Rastrick High School was the scariest day of my life.  Rastrick High School made an assembly welcoming us to the school, also this was one of the things they did.  The second thing they did was get Year 11 students to guide us around the school which made me so much more comfortable in such a huge environment. If I had a choice to do it all over again I would.

When I first went to RHS I had mixed feelings of excited and nervousness!  However, when the day finished all my nervousness was gone and I was excited to be going to high school. When I first sat down in the lower gym I started talking to someone who I didn’t know who later on became one of my friends. The best !part of the day was meeting new people and my lovely form tutor.  I thought I was gonna get lost but the Year 10’s did a good job showing the school to us.  I think RHS made me more brave and less shy and this helped me get head of form and get lots of achievement points. Good luck Year 6’s

Before I started at Rastrick I was really scared about starting.  I was worried that I wouldn’t make any friends and that I would get lost. When it came to transition day I was really scared but after the day I really enjoyed it, and I made new friends.  When I started my first day at Rastrick I was still a bit scared but I really enjoyed it.  It only took me 2 weeks to know my way around and I made a lot of new friends.  I really enjoy it at Rastrick and it is an amazing school!

Before I came to Rastrick High School I was nervous because it was a new school and I didn’t know very much about the staff and students.  From coming to Rastrick High School I have found that I have become more mature.  Also I have made new friendships from coming to Rastrick High School.  I’m so glad I chose this school and have really enjoyed my experience at this school so far.
